Have You Seen Journey’s New Lead Singer?

April 9th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · 3 Comments · Music

There was a brief Twitter discussion today about Journey’s upcoming appearance at the Clark County Fairgrounds. Tickets go on sale this weekend.
A few folks were mourning the fact there would be no Steve Perry. I pointed out the guy who replaced Perry, a guy named Arnel Pineda, is vocally a dead ringer. [...]

Keep Your Shirts On, Vikings Fans

March 16th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · 1 Comment · Local, Sports

The NCAA tournament seedings came out this afternoon, just as I was heading to the hockey fights.
Sidebar:  Seriously, whoever has the YouTube of the goal, send it to me.  I’ll make you famous.
The Portland State Vikings ended up a #16 seed against Kansas.  It shouldn’t have been a shock.  Portland State has an RPI of [...]

Clint Malarchuk Remembers

February 12th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Winter Hawks

The Malarchuk injury was much more horrific than Zednik’s, IMHO. You can go on YouTube and find both for yourself, I’m not going to help you.
Anyway, the former Winter Hawks goaltender is the goaltending coach in Columbus these days. The Edmonton Journal caught up with him yesterday.
“I have no trouble watching mine now, [...]

Weekend Wrap-Up

February 4th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Man City, Sports, Trail Blazers, Winter Hawks

I may have been in a Codeine-induced haze for the better part of the weekend, but it didn’t keep me from somewhat paying attention.
Blazers: I had tickets to the game but ended up giving them to a co-worker. She also has my tickets to Wednesday night’s game against the Bulls. Friday, I [...]

The Blazers Aren’t the Only Ones Making News

January 6th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Sports

Thursday night in Corvallis, the Oregon State Women’s basketball team beat Arizona 94-88 in double-overtime.
So what, you ask?
Well, due to injuries, illness, and academics, Arizona only suited up six players.  Two of them fouled out by the end of regulation.  Arizona, playing with only four players, built a six-point lead in the first overtime.  Oregon [...]

Hillary’s Counter-Punch

January 5th, 2008 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Politics

As Josh Marshall aptly pointed out, it’s a Rorschach test. As an Obama supporter, that’s the Hillary I fear. I thought she scored points all the way through. Right up to the point where she started talking about her 35 years of experience. Then she lost me. Is she honestly [...]

It Goes to Eleven

December 26th, 2007 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Trail Blazers

Full-on Blazermania is almost back. It’s like that movie Backdraft where the fire is just waiting for that gush of oxygen to make it explode.
Or words to that effect.
Last night’s game was #1 of my 20-game package for the season. The way the thing works, I paid $100 for 20-games in the 300-level. [...]

Sorry I Can’t Make It

December 21st, 2007 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Uncategorized

Jack Bog is throwing a cyber-Christmas party today. I may be able to get out of the office by 2, who knows. If not, please accept the following as my contribution to the YouTube potluck.

Hopefully the kid doesn’t throw away his talent on Heroin Hero.

Weekend Wrap-Up

December 17th, 2007 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Arizona Cardinals, Man City, Sports, Trail Blazers, Winter Hawks

Winter Hawks: If you’ve been thinking about attending a Hawks game this season but are unsure when to go, might I suggest Friday December 28th against the Moose Jaw Warriors. You can get your tickets here. Why do I recommend that game? Well, there’s the return of Fraser McLaren, which should [...]

Weekend Wrap-Up

December 3rd, 2007 by Chris Snethen · No Comments · Arizona Cardinals, Man City, Sports, Trail Blazers, Winter Hawks

High School Playoffs: I only caught bits and pieces of The Fan’s coverage on Friday night. I was flipping between that game, the Winter Hawks game, and Don and Mike. I guess Tualatin pulled their game out. How about that. Now they get to play Sheldon, the team that knocked [...]
