I don’t think there’s a thaw at all. The first Tonight Show debacle still runs deep. Letterman for all his goofiness, is a smart guy. Leno does this spot on the Superbowl to show what a nice guy he is. In the mean time, most people think he’s a total jerk with this second Tonight Show incident. I think it was a calculated move by Letterman to show Leno up. And for that Dave, I salute you!

Let’s see if I can do this:

Mucha and Hamilton started last year. Hamilton went to an international tournament, so they picked up Curtis as a short-term backup, and he did so well they kept him around and made Hamilton the #3. They decided at the start of this season that was a bad situation, so they went with two goalies and sent Hamilton down. Then Carruth became available when his NCAA scholarship dried up (they actually signed him that day we were at BWW), and the Winterhawks were so high on him that they moved Mucha. They still have the rights to Hamilton as far as I know.

I think he once was Denver’s representative. I remember a really good article about the football selection process back in the ’90s in Sports Illustrated. Remember some funny quotes in there from Paige: “When Jack Buck talks, he could get me to vote for Jeffrey Dahmer.”

Here's the list of football voters. I don't see Paige's name in there. Also notice, unlike Heisman or baseball, the list of voters is there for all to see. Transparency FTW!

Aren’t most of the football hall of fame voters sportswriters? I know Woody Paige is on the list, and he doesn’t seem like the poster child of reason.

Anyway, I don’t have a real problem with writers voting.

Semi-correction… you were right about him being a Philly draft pick, but he’s Anaheim property now (dunno if that occured via trade or what)… So we’re both right. Damn convienent when that happens, eh?

Enjoy your post(s) on the Hawks– It’s what got me reading your blog in all its various incarnations over the last couple years, and i’m glad to see that you’re back posting in general.

I agree with your thoughts about Sbisa… although I just wanted to throw out that he’s an Anaheim prospect, not Philly. The crappy thing about that is that he’s a virtual lock to be called up to the Ducks next year being that they have more holes to fill than the Flyers; although honestly I think he’d be playing NHL hockey next year almost no matter what team he was on.
