Fun times at PGE Park tonight as the lights went out in the top of the 7th inning. It was actually a night full of rare sights. Tacoma pitcher (and former Mariner closer) Brandon Morrow came close to striking out four batters in the bottom of the third inning. He had a decent shot at it. Several, as a matter of fact. Because in between the second and third strike-outs, he gave up a walk, a single, and a double to the, to that point, inept Beavers offense. He gave up two runs and left two on base during that inning. Other than that, Morrow was on fire for 4-2/3 innings.
The other highlight of the game was the Rainiers Kevin Howard, who had three home runs to go with a nice little sacrifice bunt. The dude was on fire!
Howard’s third home run came in the top of the seventh, just before the lights went out. My buddy Doug and I were concerned the homer wouldn’t count if the game were called. It ended up being suspended. So they’ll pick it up tomorrow night.
I gave up on the game just as the lights were coming back up. I had to get to bed. As I exited, I was greeted by the diesel generator from the Civic. Loud and noxious. Just what you want when you leave. It’s understandable, I suppose. I mean if I lived there, I’d want a generator too. Especially if I lived 20 stories up. But still, pretty annoying at street level
