Of course he does. The thing is, his endorsement is equal parts Hillary love and Obama hate.
On the court and in life, successful leadership comes from hard work and experience. That’s why I’m endorsing Hillary Clinton for President. … My rookie year, we won our first game on a last second shot. I was so hyped. But the captain of my team said, “take it easy rookie, it’s a long season, it’s a long road to the championship.” He was right. Winning comes from years of hard work and preparation.
One might recall, however, that Magic won his first NBA championship as a rookie. Oh, and the wise old captain who put the rookie in his place? Yeah, that was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, an Obama man. But what really gets me is how easily Johnson dismisses Obama’s career achievements. Magic simply repeats the meme coming from both Hillary and the right which portrays Obama as some doe-eyed neophyte. That’s plain ignorant.
I’m with FanHouse’s Tom Ziller (to whom I owe a tip o’ the cap):
Magic’s career might be a great example for Barack Obama’s campaign: The right person can come in and make a difference immediately. Change can beget instant success; the learning curve is smaller for the best and the brightest. Magic cannot dispute that.
