Ken Rosenthal asks an interesting question.  Did Red Sox fan Director George Mitchell leak the Paul Byrd HGH story prior to Game 7?  Mitchell says no.  Will Leitch also points out Mitchell claims he’d never heard about Byrd’s HGH use prior to the story coming to light.  Which is weird because Mitchell is the guy in charge of investigating steroids in baseball.

If what Mitchell says is true, that he didn’t know about Byrd, then my faith in baseball’s witch hunt investigation just went straight down the tubes.  Performance enhancing drugs are about much more than Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa.  Everyone was using them and everyone continues to use them.  The sooner we just accept that and move on, the happier we’ll all be.
