Have you been following the case of Ken Petkau up in Vancouver? Steve Ewen has the background. Long story short, he retired from the league after the Chilliwack Bruins failed to get him an NHL try-out. He had been skating with Oklahoma City. Vancouver picked Petkau up in the overage draft on Thursday and apparently he’s been itching to join the Giants. He was supposed to meet with his “new” team yesterday. The league has correctly stepped in to find out what the heck is going on.
Chilliwack is absolutely right to demand some sort of compensation if the kid is allowed to skate with Vancouver, otherwise this will open the door to dogs and cats living together. And we can’t have that.
