Who would have thought that choking I-5 down to two lanes through the south end of Seattle would actually improve traffic? Well that’s what happened today. Erica Barnett at the excellent Slog makes an excellent point when she wonders whether closing the Alaskan Way Viaduct might have a similar effect on Seattle traffic.
Obviously one day does not a non-story make, but if even Mariners fans can figure out how to take alternative transportation, anything’s possible. I wonder how we’d get along without the Interstate Bridge.
